Legal Awards 2017
In line with a long-standing tradition, at the end of spring every year the Ukrainian legal community comes together to celebrate the Legal Awards Ceremony held by Yuridicheskaya Practika Publishing. This year the eleventh annual legal ceremony was held on 17 May at the InterContinental Hotel Kyiv.
According to the program, in 2017 law firms and individuals competed in 44 nominations. Along with traditional nominations like best individuals and law firms in tax, banking & finance, M&A, litigation and others, there were several new nominations this year. Thus, for the first time the best lawyers in corporate and M&A, bankruptcy and debt restructuring were named. Law firms of the year in transportation, international trade and GR were also named. The annual ceremony gathered around 250 participants — nominees with their colleagues who came to congratulate their friends.
The nomination of applicants ran till 7 April 2017. All nomination submissions were considered by the Nomination Commission, which chose the winners via a secret ballot. This year Sayenko Kharenko became law firm of the year, while Baker McKenzie received the award of “The best foreign law company”. “The best partner of a law firm” went to Sergey Boyarchukov, managing partner of Alekseev, Boyarchukov & Partners.
A special nomination for professional achievements in the legal field was chosen by Rustam Kolesnik, editor-in-chief of the Yuridicheskaya Practika Weekly. The award went to Oleksiy Didkovskiy, managing partner of Asters.

Redcliffe & Partners — “Law firm of the year in debt restructuring”;
Doubinsky & Osharova — “The best law firm in IP”;
Spenser & Kauffmann won the award for “The best law firm in labor & employment”;
Baker McKenzie — “Law firm of the year in medicine & pharmaceuticals”;
Juscutum — “The best law firm in media & communications”
Law Firm Dynasty named “The best law firm in real estate”;
GOLAW — “Law firm of the year in compliance”;
Pavlenko Legal Group — “Law firm of the year in GR”;
FCLEX (since June 2017 — EQUITY) became “Law firm of the year in business protection”;
CMS Cameron McKenna — “The best law firm in the energy sphere”;
“The best law firm in agribusiness” award went to Eterna Law;
Axon Partners –“The best law firm in IT”;
Ilyashev & Partners — “Law firm of the year in international trade”;
ECOVIS Bondar & Bondar — “The best law firm in transportation”;
ESQUIRES —“Law firm — debutant of the year”;
PwC Legal —“Law firm — breakthrough of the year”;
Shkrebets & Partners —“Regional law firm”;
Anna Babych, partner of AEQUO, was named “The best lawyer in corporate & M&A”;
Galyna Zagorodniuk, partner of DLA Piper Ukraine named “The best lawyer in competition sphere”;
Nataliya Ulyanova, managing partner, ICF Legal Service, was chosen as “The best lawyer in tax consulting”;
Yaroslav Romanchuk, managing partner of ILC EUCON, received the award of “The best lawyer in tax disputes”;
Pavlo Khodakovsky, partner of Arzinger, is known as “The best lawyer in international business structuring”;
Mikhail Ilyashev, managing partner at Ilyashev & Partners, named “The best litigator”;
Julian Khorunzhyi,senior partner of ARIO Law Firm, named “The best lawyer in bankruptcy”;
Yaroslav Ognevyuk, partner of Doubinsky & Osharova, was victorious in the “Best IP lawyer” nomination;
Aminat Suleymanova, managing partner of AGA Partners, won “The best lawyer in family law” award;
Olena Perepelynska, partner at Integrites, became “The best lawyer in arbitration”;
Igor Fedorenko, partner, Aver Lex, became “The best lawyer in criminal cases”;
Glib Bondar, senior partner of AVELLUM, named “The best lawyer in banking & finance”;
Serhiy Chorny, co-managing partner of Baker McKenzie, named “The best lawyer in debt restructuring.
