Dialogue Established

Since the Revolution of Dignity many prominent lawyers have entered Parliament and occupied posts in Government so as to push forward reforms. And though their speed and dynamic is still far from what is expected, Ukraine is considered among record holders in terms of the number of reforms actually implemented in recent times.

Ukrainian competition law is one of the most dynamic fields with visible changes on the ground. These included merger control reform, amnesty period for merger control violations, recommendatory guidelines for fines, publication of regulator’s decision and increasing enforcement transparency.

In a country where business has got used to complaining, surprisingly lots of praise has been heaped on the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine. Those involved in interaction with it admit its approach has become more business-friendly and professional. It is quite open for constructive changes in laws and dialogue with the public. As the recent Antitrust Forum revealed, this is something that is greatly appreciated inside the country and positively received by foreign guests.

Experts practicing competition law contribute to this latest UJBL through their enlightening contribution on issues we thought would interest you. Our two cover story speakers, Vladimir Sayenko and Maksym Nazarenko, from Sayenko Kharenko law firm, share their thoughts on recent developments in competition.
