Ukrainian Energy Efficiency Forum to outline ways to invest in energy-saving projects

Ukrainian Energy Efficiency Forum ’16 entitled as Energy Efficiency Fund – Ukraine’s Major Start-Up” will take place on 23 June 2016 at NSC Olimpiyskiy in Kiev. The Forum is organized by the Ministry of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities of Ukraine, along with a co-organizer A7 CONFERENCES. 

Among participants of the event are: heads of the top 100 Ukrainian and international companies in the field of energy efficiency, Ukrainian manufacturers of energy saving products, foreign investors, international financial corporations and foreign embassies representatives. In particular, among participants of the Forum, are GIZ, Oschadbank Ukraine, Ukrgasbank, BNP Paribas, Raiffeisen Bank Aval, Epicentr, ArtBudService, Danfoss, IBC Solar Austria. 

According to Hennadiy Zubko, Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine, Minister of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities of Ukraine, the establishment of the Energy Efficiency Fund is a step towards the European standards of production, supply and consumption of energy in Ukraine. “The Energy Efficiency Fund is a new, fully fledged, transparent and corruption-free institution grounded on partnership between the Government and international financial institutions and donors. Its mission is to protect and support the public, improve housing conditions, reduce gas consumption, cut down the costs of households’ utility bills, and make a step towards Ukraine’s energy independence. To finance energy efficiency projects the Fund will attract investments in the form of low-interest long-term loans, donor and public funds, and housing subsidies saved by the public. In addition, the Fund will offer affordable standard energy efficiency projects for multi-storey buildings and provide recommendations for single-family residential houses. The Fund’s potent model has been developed in cooperation with European partners and the German Government. The Fund’s innovative approach has already been tried and tested in Poland, Lithuania and Czechia”, said Mr. Zubko. 

The Forum will provide a platform for communication and dialogue between the government, businesses and representatives of Apartment Building Co-Owner Associations and households. The aim of the Energy Efficiency Forum is to give a clear picture of its goals and objectives, essential regulatory framework, implementation potential, political, social and economic effects, and to demonstrate technical solutions targeted at raising energy efficiency of the housing sector. The Forum participants will also learn about the Fund’s operation and how to get involved.

The Forum is to be attended by senior executives of TOP 100 Ukrainian and international energy efficiency companies, Ukrainian manufacturers of energy saving products, foreign investors, representatives of international financial institutions and diplomatic missions.
